Golf Course ArchitectureCoyote Run Golf Course After 10 years of attempting to purchase the decaying Cherry Hills Golf Course, the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District finally obtained this facility to add it to its growing list of recreational opportunities. A family of coyotes still roams the property, providing inspiration to its new name and personality.
Full renovation and reconstruction of the golf course and clubhouse facilities were desired to compliment the more modern public facilities of the Park District. Significant stormwater storage for the surrounding neighborhoods is managed on-site.
At 6,550 yards and water in-play on 8 holes, this golf course provides generous challenge for every golfer. Attention was given to accommodate golfers of all abilities while providing a quality golf course facility. By integrating hazards at key locations, the better golfer will be challenged, while the less able golfer is still provided leeway. It has been characterized with the following: “Coyote Run is fun…it’s challenging, but not overwhelming. The golfers love it.” A lighted practice range, a 3-hole Junior Course and a large practice putting green provide needed facilities for the novice and better golfer.
