Carillon North

Carillon North is one of three golf course facilities for Cambridge Homes. Cambridge Homes, part of the DH Horton Development Companies, has created several age-restricted communities throughout the Chicagoland Area. In three of these communities, a par three golf course has been included as part of the amenity package. At Carillon North, a nine-hole par three golf course was sited within the confines of the community on 13 Ac. This golf course provides storage for the stormwater management, satisfies open space requirements, integrates wetland mitigation and wetland impacts as well as provide a wonderful recreation based amenity to the Carillon Homeowners.

Martin Design has been privileged to provide planning and golf course architecture for three of these communities: Carillon, Carillon North and Carillon Lakes. Carillon Club, in Naperville, Illinois will be providing a similar golf course amenity to be constructed in 2006.

Carillon Lakes
Romeoville, Illinois

This is a 3 hole, par 3 golf course as part of the amenity package for this age-restricted community in Romeoville, Illinois. This golf amenity, completed in late 1999, provides multiple tees and larger greens for varied course set-up.

Phillips Park Golf Club
Aurora Parks Department, Aurora, Illinois

As part of a larger golf course renovation, full practice facilities and a 3-hole junior courses was designed and implemented. A large grass tee, an all-weather tee, multiple target greens, and a 10,000 sf. practice green allow golfers of all ages and abilities to learn the game. The 3-hole golf course is provided specifically for junior golfers. This miniature course allows players who are learning the game a truer sense of course play and golf etiquette.

Coyote Run
Homewood-Flossmoor Park District, Flossmoor, Illinois

Ridge Country Club
Chicago, Illinois

Without room to develop a full practice range, Martin Design devised a plan to incorporate a large bentgrass fairway into a ‘short range’. This improvement provides changes to practice area set-up, as well as varied shot requirements. A large target green allows golfers to practice a wide range of shots from fairway, rough, deep rough, greenside bunkers and fairway bunkers.

Rich Harvest Farms
Sugar Grove, Illinois

Martin Design implemented two separate full practice facilities into this ultra-private club. Each practice facility is dual sided, allowing simultaneous practice from various locations or on each side of the facility. In addition, practice greens, chipping greens and practice bunkers are located to provide practice for variety of shots. In the western practice area, a par-3 short course was devised to allow youth golf the ability to play from target green to target green.

Sugar Creek Golf Course Practice
Sugar Grove, Illinois

As part of the 9-hole Executive Course for this Park District/Village owned facility, improvements included the addition of a practice range on limited space within the confines of newly acquired golf course property. Barrier fencing, grading, target greens and circulation were incorporated to provide an additional amenity for this publicly owned facility.
