Gregory E Martin, ASGCA
With more than 25 years experience in Golf Course Architecture, Greg Martin has worked on a wide range of projects, including renovation, remodeling, and new construction for public, private, daily fee and residential golf course communities as well as golf facility feasibility, site analysis, land planning and master improvement planning. This experience spans more than 100 projects in 8 states and internationally.
Since 1987 Greg has devoted himself to golf course architecture, promoting a style that is based upon the unique environmental qualities of the site, as well as the client specific needs. In addition to golf related projects, Greg has experience with land planning and landscape architecture for large residential communities, multiple family projects, regional parks, recreation based projects and urban design.
Greg, President of Martin Design Partnership, Ltd. is a graduate of Iowa State University, Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA – 1983). Prior to forming Martin Design Partnership, Ltd. (MDP) in 1991, Greg assisted prominent Chicago area planning and golf course architectural firms.
Greg has traveled to Ireland and Scotland studying and playing many of the most revered and distinguished golf links. These courses, including Ballybunion, Old and New, The Old Course at St. Andrews, Prestwick, Western Gailes, and Turnberry were inspirational and contribute greatly to Greg’s understanding of golf’s history, origin and design philosophy.

A registered Landscape Architect in Illinois [RLA], Greg is a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA), Midwest Association of Golf Course Superintendents (MAGCS), The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), and the United States Golf Association (USGA). Greg has shared his expertise on golf course architecture at Association Meetings, regional meetings for planning agencies and Golf Course Superintendents Association annual meetings.
